At a recent luncheon I was asked – ‘What do you do?’ I responded – ‘Among other things I consult in marketing and communication’ The retort was – ‘That could mean anything! What do you actually do?’ Initially irritated, it then occurred to me that this is a very good question. Indeed, it is an important question. It is important that I know exactly what I do and that I can communicate it effectively, and even in a way that will encourage people to use my services. It is also important to cut thought the jargon and be clear on what contribution I can make to an individual or business.
