I just heard a commentator on Landline on the ABC suggest that farmers effected by drought say that farmers should get more government assistance because farmers overseas do. On that basis the government should also have supported Holden Car manufactures around the work get greater subsidies than Australian manufacturers. I heard Barnaby Joyce suggest that farmers in NSW and Queensland should receive subsidies because they could not help the fact that there was a drought. On that basis SPC should have got subsidies. SPC cannot effect the value of the Australian dollar or the economic circumstances they find themselves in I heard someone else suggest that framers should get assistance because they are suiciding.
