Do you find you tend to respond differently if the invitation comes with a request tailored to you rather than the standard default request? Most people do! Tailored invitations are received more positively. The same is true of traditional correspondence. People tend to respond more favourably to a letter addressed ‘Dear Mrs Smith’ (given her name is Mrs Smith) and better still to ‘Dear Mary’ (given that her name is Mary) than to ‘Dear Sir/Madam’ or even ‘Good Morning’.
