During the Second World War, Pope Pius the XII, entered into a pact with Hitler to save the Vatican, the Catholic Church and no doubt – his own hide. There is evidence to suggest that during the Argentinean Dictatorship, Pope Francis, at least turned a blind eye to the Dictators and in particular their leader – President Videla, and the litany of murders ( including those of Catholic priests and nuns) they were responsible for. Is Francis just another Pius the XII? When Benedict came to power, there was hope that he might do something about the incidences of paedophilia in the Catholic Church and take strident action to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
