This same survey found that some 23% of problems were experienced with an online purchase. Another major survey in December 2016 found that 7.5% of the value of all Australian retailing was online. Put simply, while generating 23% of problems, online purchasing constituted only 7.5% in terms of volume. While these figures may not be directly comparable, they do suggest that consumers experience more problems with online purchases than they do with offline purchases.
