I don’t know about you but I hate waiting. Indeed, in my experience most people hate waiting. We particularly hate waiting on the phone, being put on hold for an indeterminate length of time, and in the case of banks and telecommunication companies, a long period of time. Having said that, I understand why this occurs and assuming I don’t wait too long, I accept it. Indeed, I like most business people have kept callers waiting whilst I attend to an earlier caller or some other pressing issue. What I cannot accept however, and what I have NEVER done or recommended, is selling stuff to people whilst they are kept on hold. Indeed, I find it offensive when I not only have to wait, but I have to listen to advertising whilst I wait. In my view it is rude to subject people waiting to be attended to with advertising…
