In the United States 30% of the population say they believe in creationism. They believe that the earth was created less than 10,000 years ago in 6 days by a god that made man in his image. To me, such beliefs are bizarre. That said, they do highlight a need for certainty – a way of explaining the world around them and what will happen to them when they die.
