Have you ever cut your fingers opening the packaging on a razor blade or battery purchase? I have, and it pissed me off. I also get pissed off by the frequency with which I have to empty the kitchen recycling bin because it is full of packaging. Packaging pissed me off. While it generally looks good and often makes an item more convenient to purchase, the packaging is hard to open, hard to dispose of and entirely wasteful. And… I am not alone. Research completed in January 2023 found that 81% of consumers want to eliminate plastic packaging. Another study found that 77% of U.K. consumers state that brands should use as little packaging as possible. Some 80% of Australian consumers say that the nature of packaging affects their purchase decisions.
