There are so many coffee shops in our cities today. Every major building has one. Most arcades have one or two. Shopping centres have numerous. Most street corners have one if not two. There appears to be new coffee shops opening every day, some franchised and others individually owned. There seems to be a new source of the city’s best coffee every week and a steady stream of people flocking to it. Where did they all come from? Why are they so popular? Can they all survive? I guess the answer to the first of these questions is the easiest. Coffee shops became popular, the margins are healthy and the cost of entry is low. Many people saw coffee shops are addressing a growing need and delivering outstanding margins.
