NO ONE CARES ABOUT YESTERDAY’S NEWS – 3 OBSERVATIONS I have heard the X and Y generations described as the ‘NOW’ generations. They certainly are NOW generations – but, increasingly, so are the rest of us. We want everything now! We have a rapidly diminishing interest in what happened yesterday, let alone what happened a week, a month or a year ago. While our interest in ancient history may remain, our interest in recent history is long gone. Some psychologists suggest that this is a good thing – with more people living in, and focusing on, the here and now. They might be right. There are many antecedents of this lack of interest in yesterday and the increased focus on things current, including: the 24/7 news cycle; the advent of social media; and the rate of change in the world.
